Kids’ Pictures and Posters
At the first public meeting at St John’s Church, several children made posters or drew pictures of their ideal park while their grown-ups were at the meeting.
This was the starting point for the impromptu focus group:
Thea wants to have monkey bars, a zip wire, swings, a climbing frame and a slide.
She says ” We want to keep our park!”.

“We don’t want houses on our park! We want it to be full of happy people we also want it to be safe.”
Lina wants new play equipment and sports pitches as well as grass, flowers and plants.
She doesn’t want dogs pooing and she doesn’t want houses on the park.
Lewis’s ideal park includes a skate park, climbing wall, climbing frame, football hire place, table tennis tables, a stage for performing, parkour area, football goals, a big screen and a bigger football area.
Eris has gone into lots of detail about the type of things that would be included in the skate park and parkour park.
An outdoor gym, bigger climbing frame and a grass football pitch are also on the wishlist.
Another child would like to see a skate park and a parkour park.
Hannah’s pictures show a skate park, aquarium, zip wire, swimming facilities (or a place to get changed) and a water gun.
Also, table tennis, a lake, a cafe, dog agility course, a butterfly house and a mini race track.
Some children decided to make a poster to show how they felt about the threat to the park.
